Cache County Fair 2009

The fair was August 6-8, 2009. Tyler and Kody had been working all summer long to show their sheep at the county fair. The time had finally arrived. With much anticipation, we loaded up the camp trailer, the sheep, Trixie, and ourselves and spent 4 days at the County Fair.

We learned a lot about sheep, we learned a few things we will do differently next year, and we learned that the camp trailer is a must for mom! Tyler and Kody seemed to have a great time seeing old friends and meeting new friends.

Tyler and Kody both won blue ribbons in their market class and both placed about 5th or 6th in their fitting and showmanship classes. They both were able to sell their sheep at the Jr. Livestock sale on Saturday for a decent price. Overall it was a positive experience and one that we will be doing again next year.

The 3 M's

Introducing the newest members of our family...

Misty, Maggie, and Molly

Our good friends, The Adams, had 3 young boys who all participated in 4-H as youth. These boys are all now grown and too old for 4-H. Jim has a love for the County Fair and the 4-H program so last fall he asked if he could adopt our boys for the summer and help them with a 4-H Sheep project.

Tyler and Kody seemed very eager and excited as we took the sheep to the fair grounds for registration and weigh in. I hope the excitement continues through the project - culminating in August at the County Fair. The sheep were really stubborn and wouldn't walk, mostly had to be pushed, dragged or carried. I'm hoping this improves and doesn't discourage Tyler and Kody. Keep in mind that Friday night was the first time these sheep had a halter put on them -- so needless to say, we have alot of work to do this summer.

To be continued throughout the summer.....
