First Day of School August 26, 2010

Tyler started North Cache Middle School in the 8th Grade this year.  He was very ready to go to school -- not so much to learn (although Tyler does like school) as to see his friends!  Tyler is definately our social child.

Kody started 5th grade at the new elementary school in Smithfield.  Birch Creek Elementary.  It is just north of our house and Kody has to gets to walk to school this year.  He was excited to start school also but I think he was a little bit nervous for a new school.  Even though most of the students and staff came from either Summit or Sunrise, I think Kody had some first day jitters.

Thankfully, after a great first day of school for Kody, those jitters were put to bed and school has been great!

Who Knew...

Wow! When I sent the boys off to school today I said "Your last Friday of 6th grade or 3rd grade." School will be out next Thursday, June 4. It seems like each school year goes faster and faster.

Who knew when Kody started 3rd grade...
1. He'd make the adjustment to a new school just fine.
2. He'd be able to ride his bike or walk home without his mom worrying about him making it home safely.
3. He'd learn his multiplication tables.
4. He'd learn fractions.
5. He'd learn cursive.
6. He'd meet new friends.
7. He'd learn to google everything.
8. He'd only eat school lunch if it was Pizza Hut pizza day.
9. He'd make it through the day with a substitute teacher. (Kody used to have a very hard time with substitutes, so much so that he usually called home sick on those days.)
10. He'd grow so much that we'd have to buy new pants in April!

Who knew when Tyler started 6th grade...
1. He'd learn about "brand" name clothing - and want them!
2. He'd learn to text very fast.
3. He'd adjust to middle school so quickly and well.
4. He'd learn about true friendships, and who are good friends and those who aren't the best of friends.
5. He'd get a 4.0 GPA.
6. He'd fall in love with the al carte line at lunch.
7. He'd survive getting up at 6:15am.
8. He'd handle sports and homework so well.
9. He'd be responsible for his grades.
10. He'd learn to enjoy reading - thanks Mrs. Ward!

I'm grateful for the things the boys learn and how they develop each year. I am a little sad that they are growing up so fast but I guess that's life and I can't do much about it.
